~ Dennis A. Ehrich, MD, FACC, the Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY, led a workshop on Outcomes Measurement for the new Fellows. Below are materials from his workshop:

~ Daniel Lessler, MD, MHA, the Associate Medical Director at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, and Pamela Piering, the Director of Aging and Disability Services for Seattle-King County, led a workshop for the 2007 Fellows on developing successful strategic partnerships.

~ Marshall Chin, MD, MPH, director of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's "Finding Answers: Disparities Research for Change National Program Office" and the co-director of the Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatrics at the University of Chicago, discussed approaches to organizing and delivering care to reduce disparities.



~ Advisory Board Member Cheryl Phillips led a web-based seminar for Fellows on Running Effective and Productive Meetings:



~ The topic of the advisory board seminar was Palliative Care. Below are resources from that seminar:

~ Fellows were given guidelines for their semi-annual financial and progress report, due March 31, 2008. A financial template was also provided.

~ The agenda from this meeting is an example of the typical structure of the tri-annual meetings.



~ Robert Berenson, MD, Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute, was our keynote speaker. His presentation, "The Emerging Challenge of Chronic Care", was based on a paper he wrote for the California HealthCare Foundation: "Challenging the Status Quo in Chronic Disease Care: Case Studies".

~ Advisory Board member Judy Black presented a case study on Highmark's Transitions of Care, A Medicare Advantage QualityBLUE Pay for Performance Model.
